Assistant conductor Shira Samuels-Shragg leads the DSO in this “So long 2025!” and “Hello! 2026” celebratory concert on New Year’s Eve featuring Principal Second Violin, Angela Fuller Heyde. The high-spirited musical revels will include beloved waltzes, polkas, marches, overtures, favorite operetta excerpts, plus a few surprises to help ring in the new year. And you can bet that there’ll be some tunes by Johann Strauss, Jr., whose 200th birthday we celebrate in 2025! So, grab your friends and come party at this unforgettable night with the DSO!

Hart Institute for Women Conductors: 10th Anniversary Concert
Make history with us at the 10th Annual Linda and Mitch Hart Institute for Women Conductors Showcase Concert. Addressing the profound gender imbalance at the helm of the world’s opera orchestras, the Hart Institute, the only program of its kind, provides training and career support to the next generation of women conductors. This special anniversary performance will feature six alumnae from the first decade of the Institute—Elizabeth Askren, Tiffany Chang, Michelle Di Russo, Barbara Dragan, Tianyi Lu, and Shira Samuels-Shragg—and a guest host. Each conductor will lead The Dallas Opera Orchestra and guest singers in excerpts from operas significant to TDO’s history.

The evening wouldn’t be complete without Ray Parker Jr.’s chart-topping theme song “Ghostbusters!”
